Manifestation – Turning Dreams and Desires into Reality
What is it that you desire? Do you believe you can have that desire? These are the two basic questions that will lead you to manifest the life you crave the most.
Manifestation is the act of voicing or writing down one’s desires or dreams, and then having unrelenting faith that the dream/want will come to fruition. Manifestation is turning dreams into a reality through conscious focus, vision, and faith.
Now, that’s great and all … but how does one actually manifest what they desire? Is it really that simple, and how do we know if it even works? In this article, we’re going to explore each of these questions, and show you that manifestation is a tool that can be used by anyone, at any time, and during any circumstance. Let’s dive in.
What Is Manifestation?
Manifestation is having a desire and voicing that desire to whatever higher forces you believe in, such as God, the Universe, Mother Earth, your highest self, etc. If you don’t believe in a “higher force,” then it is simply a way to pursue your goals and have them in mind. I will say, however, that there is a distinct element of faith in manifestation, whether that be in yourself or something else.

When you want to manifest something, there are a few things to be aware of before you start voicing them via prayer or to the Universe.
- Have gratitude for what you already have.
In order to manifest what you most desire, it’s important to have gratitude for what you already have. In the words of Ted Andrews, “The quickest way to stop the flow of abundance is by failing to honor that which has already come to you.”
- Be clear on what you desire.
It’s important to have a clear vision of exactly what you want. The more specific and detailed your vision is, the better. This way, when it’s time to make your declaration, you know exactly what to voice and pray for. One way to do this is to journal beforehand and lay out what it is you want, and why you want it. What is your intention behind this desire?
- Lay aside fears and doubts.
One of the most important parts of manifestation is faith. When we continuously go back and forth on something we desire, we make it much harder to manifest. Yes, this also includes money and finances. In this way, we cheat ourselves out of it through doubt and fear. That being said, it’s completely normal for these things to come up.
I find it helpful to have a mantra or phrase I return to when I am actively manifesting something. Every time a fear or doubt enters my mind, I say something along the lines, “I trust in the blessings of the spirit, or better.” Then, I take a moment to settle and connect with the spirit, allowing gratitude for what I have and what I want to fill my being.
- Conclude each declaration with “or better.”
Sometimes there is something greater planned for us that we don’t realize. In this way, we might not get exactly what we want, but we leave the space open for something better. This is putting trust in the higher force that if we don’t receive what we declared, there is something better waiting for us.
- Envision yourself receiving the gift and rejoicing in gratitude for it.
After making your declaration, mentally envision yourself with what you desire. In the vision, you are filled with gratitude and overjoyed to receive what you declared. Physically smile, and thank the Universe, or whatever you believe in, for the gift. Whenever doubts or fears start to creep in it’s helpful to return to this vision and smile with gratitude for what you have already received.
- You have to put in the work.
While I do believe miraculous things can happen and we can receive what we desire with little effort, it’s also important to work with the spirit/universe. We’re manifesting what we desire by voicing it to the universe and taking the necessary steps to receive it.
- Release any blocks or limitations within yourself.
Oftentimes, we are holding ourselves back from our true potential by self-limiting beliefs and old patterns that need to fall away. When manifesting something, check-in with yourself and ask, “Am I limiting myself in any way?” “Am I unconsciously blocking blessings based on old fear or trauma?”

These are deep questions and can be extremely uncomfortable to go through. Moving through old patterning and self-beliefs is difficult (to say the least), but it is critical in order to open yourself up to blessings and the life you envision for yourself. Remember: healing is a journey and it is not a linear process. Something I repeat to myself, especially when going through a difficult process is: I am whole just as I am, and I am stepping into my highest self.
One of the most important parts of manifestation is faith.
While these steps are great ways to manifest what you desire, they are not concrete nor rules one must follow. I have manifested many things even with doubts, and without making an actual declaration. Nonetheless, following these steps puts forth the energy of your desire in a tangible and powerful way.

Ready. Set. Manifest.
Now that we have covered the basics of manifestation, it’s time to declare your desire to the divine spirit, God, or universe. Take a few deep breaths, come down into your body, connect in with the spirit, smile, and make your declaration.
Your declaration can be made while meditating, in prayer, or in a journal. My favorite form of manifesting what I desire is to step outside and declare it out loud.
Does Manifestation Work?
Our minds are powerful, and they have the ability to control our reality. If you believe manifestation works, then it will. If you don’t believe manifestation will work, then it won’t. It’s as simple as what you choose to believe. Science confirms, as published by Psychology Today, that when you believe you can do something, the chances of you doing it are much higher.

In my life, I have seen manifestation work time and time again. Every time I have seen my desires come to fruition, I am filled with amazement and gratitude for the spirit. I mark each of them down, either mentally or physically, and remember them whenever I have doubts about the future.
“The spirit has blessed me with abundance thus far, why would it stop now?”

Manifestation Examples
Here is a personal story of what I have manifested in my life.
Over a year ago, we moved to a beautiful property on forty acres of land (which was an amazing and crazy manifestation of itself). My partner and I love wildlife, and we felt like there could be more animals on the land, including more birds and wild roaming creatures. Together, we made the declaration that we would like more animals on the land. After this, we put in the work. We brought our birdfeeder and hummingbird feeder with us and had them up within the first week of moving in.

Flash forward to today, there is a wild flock of turkeys who come to our land every day and hang out with our poultry. We have a pair of Stellar Jays who built a nest outside our kitchen window in the rose bushes for the second year (last year was the first year they built the nest there thanks to the birdfeeder).
We have twice as many bird species here as last year and they are building their nests around the property. Deer visit the property daily, as well as bobcats, foxes, bears, skunks, possums, and coyotes. We now have a full ecosystem of life up here. While there were still birds and animals passing through before we came here, it was different.
Our minds are powerful, and they have the ability to control our reality.
There’s no denying the abundance of wildlife that has flocked to our lands since making that declaration, and I thank the spirit for her blessings every time I see the flock of turkeys in the morning (which didn’t show up until a couple of months ago – now they’re here every day).
Not only have I manifested more animals on the land, but I have also seen manifestation work in other ways. I have manifested beautiful new friendships, job opportunities, financial blessings, and so much more.
All it takes is faith.
Manifestation Journal
One of the best ways to manifest your desires is to write them out and keep them in a journal. This will not only help you become clear on exactly what you want, but it will also help you keep track of what you want to manifest.

Another benefit of keeping a manifestation journal is you can look back on what you previously desired, and how you were blessed with that desire. In this way, it can be both a gratitude and manifestation journal.
While the effectiveness of manifestation techniques can vary from person to person, here are some potential benefits of keeping a manifestation journal:
- Clarity and focus
- Goal setting
- Increased awareness
- Positive affirmations
- Visualization and imagination
- Gratitude practice
- Progress tracker

Is manifestation real?
For me, it is very much real. That being said, it’s only real if you believe it to be. If you don’ believe in manifestation, then you won’t manifest anything. Belief and faith are the core principles of manifestation.
How do you manifest someone?
Be clear on the “someone” you desire. Is it a friend, a romantic partner, a business partner, or a mentor? What qualities are you looking for? Once you have a clear idea of the kind of person you want to attract in your life, you can make your declaration to the Universe/Spirit/God.
How do you manifest happiness for someone else?
Send them loving energy and light and pray for their happiness. I will say, someone else’s happiness isn’t your responsibility, they must find it for themselves. All you can do is support them the best you can, pray for them, and send them loving light/energy.

With firm belief and faith, anyone can manifest the life of their dreams. It takes work, dedication, and an unrelenting faith in a higher power or your highest self. Above all else, the key is patience and gratitude for what is – that’s where the true magic begins.
